THEY’RE AT IT AGAIN

The City is inviting its citizens AND its employees to engage their input site at Engaged.Edmonton.ca to share ideas about Reimagining their (your) jobs. Sounds pretty innocuous, but here are a few thoughts for you if you choose to participate:

This is a public message board. Be very cautious about what you’re saying there.
Don’t disclose confidential information or information that would identify you.
If you use your City email address to register, you will be identified.
Don’t say anything inappropriate or disparaging about the City.
It is uncertain how the City will use the information you provide. The site doesn’t provide any limitations
Employers can discipline employees for what they say publicly if it has an effect on the workplace.
It could lead to additional concerns if employees get into exchanges with each other.

The City has not consulted with the unions about this initiative so we have had no input to it. Our simple advice is to decline to participate. If you choose to participate, please use caution and consider the above points.
