The Coalition Presidents have been in negotiations with the City of Edmonton since Friday evening to hammer out a Letter of Understanding laying out the conditions of temporary layoff and recall for COVID related work shortage. The final video conference ended about 20 minutes ago.

The attached documents are: 1. The final version of the LOU and 2. The details of the SUB Plan to which members on Temp Layoff will be entitled. It took a lot of everyone’s weekend to arrive at this. It is not perfect, but it is fair.

I have committed to signing it off by 4pm today. Please take a few precious weekend minutes to read through these documents. To be clear, we have completed the negotiations on this LOU, but if there’s some absolute flaw in it that we’ve missed, please contact me as soon as possible.

As I said, the Coalition Presidents, as well as CUPE and CEMA have all agreed that this is the best approach to reflect fairness for all.
