First of all, the Union understands the incredible amount of pressure our members have been subjected to regarding the recent driver evaluations.
There have been many rumors stating that some operators have been terminated because they have failed the cogitative test. This is totally false. Any member who has failed the test is put on paid administrative leave.
To be totally transparent, please see the most recent results which were provided to the Union on March 5, 2017. Enhanced Driver Safety Program Summary Report Mar 7, 2017
What is the next step?
The Policy grievance is scheduled for March 15, 2017. After consulting with the Union lawyer, Pat Nugent, the Union will be seeking an expedited arbitration hearing. If the City does not agree to this, the Union will apply for an injunction to stop the cognitive portion of the testing. Click here to read the letter to COE regarding the Policy Grievance
The Union will update you with more information as it becomes available.
In solidarity,
