STRIKE READY!

Over the past two weeks, you’ve seen the ATU Core Team out gathering signatures. So far, about 70% of our entire membership have signed the statement “I will vote yes in a Strike vote.” That’s about 98 percent of everyone who was asked to sign. An actual strike vote won’t happen until it’s determined that mediation isn’t working.

Meanwhile, you’ll see in the photos that ATU’s Strike Committee has met with other Coalition Unions to undergo Strike Preparedness Training. We need to get the pieces in place. The meeting was hosted in our Hall, with CSU Facilitators Brandi Thorne and Farid Iskander, who gained lots of experience last year as CSU came within a couple of hours of walking off the job.

Our Team left excited, enthusiastic and well informed to be able to take on the task of strategizing for any work stoppage that could occur.

The application for Mediation is in and we’re waiting for a mediator to be assigned.
